Bird-shaped Buns

Preparation

Prepare the dough: dissolve honey, salt, and sunflower oil in 1/3 cup of boiling water, then mix.

Do not wait for the water to cool; gradually add a cup of flour with baking powder (you might need a little more or less flour, so don't try to pour all the flour in at once). Knead for 10-15 minutes. The dough should be like plasticine.

From the prepared dough, roll out a sausage (about the thickness of a thumb). Cut it into not-too-small, equal pieces. Don't make them too small; you need space to tie the birds into knots. I got 6 strands.

From each strand, sculpt a lark. To do this, simply tie a knot, make a head from one end, and flatten the other end like a tail. Use a knife to make feathers.

Insert raisins for eyes; you can cut them in half.

Six strands will yield six birds. You can brush them with sugar syrup or egg yolk. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 25 minutes (check for readiness during baking).

These rosy bird-shaped buns are what you get if you brush them with egg yolk. This recipe yields about 3-4 servings.

Enjoy your tea!
