Italian Apple Rustic Pie

Preparation:

1. For this recipe, we only need egg yolks. Combine them with sugar (use all of it, but set aside 3 tablespoons) and whisk. The mixture should lighten significantly, increase in volume, and the sugar should completely dissolve.
2. The butter needs to be softened. To do this, take it out of the refrigerator in advance or use a microwave. Add half of the butter to the egg yolks and mix.
3. Pour in the milk and mix until homogeneous.
4. Mix salt, flour, and baking powder. Then combine these dry ingredients with the milk-egg mixture. Knead the dough thoroughly.
5. Take a baking pan and line it with parchment paper. Pour in the dough.
6. Peel the apples, slice them, and remove the core.
7. Arrange the apple slices on top of the dough.
8. The remaining butter needs to be brought to a liquid state – you can melt it in the microwave or in a double boiler. Pour it over the pie and sprinkle with the sugar that was set aside.
9. Place in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius. Baking will take about half an hour; watch the top, it should be brownish-golden.
